Cascade River State Park

tent city

Lime planned a trip for the group to go to Cascade River State Park. We went yearly for a while, but these pictures are from May 2018. I think this is the first year we went up and it was just the 3 of us. We did another trip later with Zach and Alex. She booked BP1. It is right on Lake Superior. Its also right off of 61 so its really easy to bring in firewood and haul heavy stuff like chairs. Downside is you hear cars and trucks drive by at night.

Lake Superior

Here is a view of the lake from the campsite.

bottlecaps

People previous to us hammered bottle caps into the shelter. Its pretty nice having that shelter. One year it was super rainy, so we put up a tarp off the roof and moved the picnic table underneath it. We played cards and hung out where it was somewhat more dry

Latrine

This is the latrine. We lucked out and there was fresh TP. We returned the favor by stocking it up before we left.

Wolf Food

There was the remants of a deer. Some wolf had a tasty meal.

Cascade Falls more Cascade Falls

These are pictures of the Cascade falls.

Lime at Lookout Mountain Overlook Lookout Mountain Overlook

Lookout Mountain is more of a big hill, but it sounds cool at any rate. There is a very nice overlook at the top. I went up there with a walkie-talkie and was able to call back to BP1.

Superior Hiking Trail Marker

The Superior Hiking Trail goes through Cascade River State Park. I thought this trail marker looked pretty cool.

Forest Fungus

Here is a neat tree fungus. There are lots of cool mushrooms up along the north shore.

Bay in Grand Marais

turquoise water

Cascade River State Park is really close to Grand Marais. Whenever we camp up there we always take a day to go into the town. There is a neat area by the bay to explore a little bit.
